Jean Pederson, Watercolor/Mixed Media Artist
http://jeanpederson.com
Class Title:  Principles for Creating Exciting Designs.

This workshop is geared towards beginner and intermediate painters. You will explore the elements and principles of design in conjunction with traditional ideas of composition.   We will discuss divisions of space, balance, dominance, movement and opposition as they relate to painting.
Practical exercises and analysis will be incorporated into the course. We will discuss non-referential imagery in compositions and relate these ideas to referential imagery.

I will be using water-soluble media but these concepts can be worked through using the media of your choice.

Janet Rogers
http://www.watercolorsbyrogers.com/
Class Title:  Expressive Flowers &  Portrait/Figures in Watercolor
Fresh Flowers in the studio will be the inspiration for the beginning of this dynamic workshop - progressing to the portrait, either from models, if available, or photographs that students bring or from Janet's collection.  Through a series of painting exercises, students will develop a more loose and natural approach - giving them an opportunity to be more spontaneous and expressive in their paintings. Drawing exercises will be included for the portrait.  Many "features" will be covered including children's portraits.  Janet will demonstrate her intuitive approach throughout the workshop and work individually with each student, as well as class instruction. Some of the goals for the workshop will be to discover new color and design, applying transparent flesh tones, finding the "life" in paintings, and for students to experience their own unique "connections" in watercolor.

Diane Maxey, Watercolor Artist

Class Title:  Sunshine, Shade & Shadow
If a watercolorist wishes to bring the visual excitement of dramatic light and expressive shadows into their paintings, this workshop is for them.  In this 5-day workshop a complete understanding of light and shadows will be explored and applied to create watercolor paintings of outstanding excitement.  During the first day of class, the student will be lead into learning experiences on how light creates and forms objects and most importantly, how to translate this information with watercolor into visually exciting paintings.  The 2nd day of the class will be filled with shadows.  The students will explore and come to a full understanding of shadow rules and how to translate them with watercolor for their paintings.  There will be many "ah ha!" moments. With all of this new information, the class will be challenged with painting motivations into tickling their thinking process, stimulating new creative ideas and exploring new painting experiences.  This workshop will change the way the student sees and paints forever.   ___________________________________________________
