Materials List:

Please bring your set-up for plein aire painting in case we paint outside.
Pastels:  Two good basic sets are the NuPastel 96 color set (cheap!) and either (or both) the Rembrandt 90 pastel landscape set or the 78 color Southwest set by Great American Pastels.  I'm partial (obviously) to the Great American set since my image is on the cover of the pastel set and I picked out the colors!  Generally, a range of two to three hundres pastels (or bits of pastel stick) should be sufficient fo rthe class.  Bring the surface you are comfortable painting with (kitty wallace, art spectrum, etc.)  In addition I will have some samples of the surface I make and I'll be showing the calss how to make their own surface from my formula.  If yu want to exclusively use my surface, bring some blank untempered masonite panels int he 11 x 14" to 12 X 16" range and we'll make some here.

Oil/Acrylic:
I use a "universal" oil palette which as the following colors:  Titanium White, Alizerin Crimson, Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Cobalt Blue and Ultramarine Blue.  Some optional and useful colors include:  Pthalo Green, Dioxazine Purple and Burnt Sienna.  For the Acylic Palette, use the same colors with the addition of Medium Magenta and Permanent Greent Ligth.  The optional oil colors are the same for acrlic.  For surfaces, bring canvas panels in the 8 x 10 to 12 X 16" range.

For Brushes:
Bring what you are comfortable with:  In addition bring a 3/4" wide "Flat" or "Bright" bristle brush.  We will be painting mostly with this brush.
